Goals, Schmoals!

I am a goal setter.  I like to sit for a couple hours sometime in December (okay, it usually ends up being January) and plan what I am going to work on for the year.  It is a great way to reflect on what I have done in the past year and focus on what’s ahead.

A few years ago, I stumbled upon a copy of the book, Best Year Yet and started using it to set my goals and intentions for the year.  I love the question format that Jinny Ditzler has set up and now they have a website to move through the process.  I probably should get a check from Jinny Ditzler with all the copies of the book I have passed along to friends (just kidding…kind of).

Now, you may be wondering why I am writing about this in March.  It’s Q1 check-in time! Both your personal and business goals need to be reviewed and updated.  Make it a priority.  This is important, you know the saying- what you focus on, you achieve.

I may not be perfect but I like being able to see how I am doing.  Failing holds me accountable to improve next month/quarter.

Now, maybe you have not set goals yet.  That’s okay.  Start today, or this weekend.  Take a chunk of time and write out SMART goals.  No, I am not going to explain SMART goals because it will make me tired and you can #GTS (google that sh*t).  Break your big goals down into weekly or monthly smaller goals to make it less daunting.  Do it.  Focus. Achieve.
